BAKER YEOMANS FOUNDATION
& JAZZ AT THE RIVER
The Baker Yeomans Foundation for the Arts is a non-profit organization created to promote the live performance and education of performing and visual arts. The Foundation raises money through events like Jazz At The River to help artists in various performing and visual art disciplines continue their education.
Jazz At The River brings world-class jazz musicians and educators to the city of Eagle, Idaho, providing the community and students alike with unrivaled access to these professionals. In addition to an outdoor jazz festival and a series of more intimate jazz performances around town, this charter event includes educational master classes that allow students to learn from some of the best musicians in the field in a one-on-one setting. Monies raised during this event will be used to fund student scholarships.
Some of our organization’s future goals include creating graduate scholarships for students studying the arts in college and an endowment to provide for the needs of struggling professional artists in our community.
ARTS WEST SCHOOL
As Idaho’s only private performing arts college prep school, Arts West School for the Performing and Visual Arts is passionate about providing an educational experience that empowers each child both academically and creatively. We believe in nurturing the creative confidence of students and allowing them to discover their own potential.
GOALS:
- Integrating a full academic/arts curriculum that educates the whole student--the artist and the scholar.
- Discovering and meeting the individual needs of each student by designing an educational and creative path uniquely for them.
- Teaching a hands-on, project/performance based curriculum that allows students to make their own discoveries and be actively involved in their own education.
- Creating a "safe" campus culture that allows students to fully explore and express their creativity, fostering innovation rather than conformity.
- Opening our students' eyes to the wider world through international cultural exchanges and real life experiences as part of the practical application of their academic and creative education.
