Festival Kick-off Event:

CD Release Concert for Jeff Baker, jazz vocalist.
CD titled “Of Things Not Seen” featuring a collection of “sacred jazz” music including Gospel tunes, spirituals and old hymns arranged in the straight-ahead jazz genre.

THURSDAY, JUNE 25

Master Classes in Jazz:

Master Classes for musicians of all ages. Purchase tickets here or call Edie Beckwith at (208) 345-1300.

Classes include:

  • Jazz Vocals taught by “Earshot Northwest Vocalist of the Year” Seattle’s Greta Matassa
  • Jazz Guitar taught by the “Electrifying” Chicago guitarist John Mclean
  • Jazz Piano taught by “Jazz Master” pianist Darrell Grant & “8 Time GRAMMY Nominee” Laurence Hobgood
  • Jazz Saxophone taught by “Innovative” JazzWeek Top 25 Artist from Chicago, Geof Bradfield
  • Jazz Combo taught by “Boise Jazz Greats” Trumpeter Rob Walker and Pianist Justin Nielsen
  • Jazz Drums taught by “Julliard Alumnus”, New York’s  McClenty Hunter
  • Jazz Bass taught by  "New York bassist" Paul Gabrielsen

Jazz Jam Night I:

Professional musicians and Treasure Valley’s finest student musicians play continuous live jazz.

Time: 6:00 to 10:00 PM

FRIDAY, JUNE 26

Heritage Park Jazz Concert:

Treasure Valley’s finest student musicians and professional jazz artists from around the country combine their talents during a special afternoon performance. Student groups include Boise State University’s Vocal Jazz & Combo and the Arts West Vocal Jazz Collective & Combo. Professional artists scheduled to perform with the student groups include Gail Pettis (vocals), Bill Anschell (piano), Sandon Mayhew (sax), Thomas Marriott (trumpet), Jeff Johnson (bass), Tom Jensen (bass) and John Bishop (drums). Student All Stars will be selected from our Master Classes and Gazebo Concert to perform with Professional Artists during their sets during Jazz At The River’s Outdoor Festival.

Food and beverages available on-site. Jazz at the River bottled water sales benefit the Baker Yeomans Foundation scholarship fund.
